Symptoms
The following scenario may occur when logging on to a Windows NT/2000 workstation that has the PNAgent client Version 6.3x installed.
When a non-administrator user logs on to the workstation, the CPU may spike to 90%.
Cause
When Outlook Version 2000 or 2002 is published on a MetaFrame XP Feature Release 2 server and the .fav file type association is checked on the Content Redirection dialog box, the following registry key is modified on the workstation to enable PNAgent to launch the associated application from the MetaFrame XP Feature Release 2 server:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Outlook.NavigatorBarFile\shell\open\command
No permissions are set on the above registry key for non-administrator users.
Running a registry monitoring utility such as Regmon may reveal the following types of events:
pnagent.exe: OpenKey
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Outlook.NavigatorBarFile\shell\open\command ACCDENIED
Resolution
This issue will be resolved in Version 7.0 of the PNAgent Client available with Service Pack 3 for MetaFrame XP.
